Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Did any of you bring along your stand mixer (kitchen aid, etc...)? I just got mine in Feb and use it quite often. I was considering selling it and getting a really good hand mixer, but the thought of parting with it is hard.
It's really bulky and heavy, so I don't know if it's smart to keep it.
We didn't bring the big Hobart mixer, but did bring 2 food processors.
We were surprised at how much we could bring with us, as we have a lot of extra storage space in the center island. You can also maximize storage by nesting things.
You have to decide what's important to you and how you cook.
I don't plan on bringing my kitchen aid mixer, with just dh and I we wouldn't use it that often. I am bringing my bread machine, 2 crockpots, a toaster oven, blender. I do have a small hand mixer, might pack it.
My wife doesn't consider it RVing without her Kitchen Aid Stand mixer. She has the stand mixer, a Kitchen Aid hand mixer, a big and a small food processor in the 5th Wheel.
She's a gourmet cook and uses every little appliance known to woman. We have a whole coat closet and an overhead (big) storage cabinet in the 5th wheel dedicated to small appliances.
Weight be damned....both mine and the 5th wheel's. She's gonna cook and I'm gonna eat what she fixes.

Larry, I like the way you & your wife think. When we were looking for our 5er 2 years ago, the 1st thing I looked at was the kitchen. If there was no storage or counter space, there was no point in looking any further. I love to cook & living in an RV will not stop that. I don't think I will take my big kitchen-aid but I do have a good hand mixer.
She actually convinced me to buy the 38 footer instead of the 32 foot 5th wheel because the rear kitchen counter was deeper. The 38 footer had two more ceramic tiles worth of counter space across the rear of the unit.

I can't even consider leaving my mixer at "home". He'll be lonely. Since I'm solo I could always belt the "Avocado Avenger"* in the front passenger seat. Heck, I could even talk to him driving down the road.

Seriously, I bake a loaf of bread every other day when I'm home. Being on the road with an oven won't be any different. I still have to eat. I'll still want to slice summer squash, shred potatoes for rostii, and make a little sausage now and again. So the attachments are necessary.
Of course I may have to buy the KA pasta rollers because the manual ones I use now will take up extra space . About a year and a half ago I started mixing my pasta in a food processor. So I suppose that's coming along for the ride too. And then Oscar will feel left out if he's not there to make fresh pesto... Maybe I could save a pound if Oscar will mix the pasta!

* At the factory I found out KA never made mixers in "avocado". The "Avocado Avenger" is really "Lemon Grass Lucy", but don't tell him, he'll be crushed.
I absolutely LOVE my KA and will be taking it with us as well. I don't know where I will store it because the counter space I do have will house the Kuerig.
I see you are active duty? Air Force? We are too! Going to California with our Class A and will be living full time in it for some time. Looking forward to it!
